I was fourteen years old the first time I advocated in a courtroom. It was at my father’s sentencing hearing. I am the daughter of a single immigrant mother and a drug addict. Failure was not an option.
After graduating law school valedictorian, I began pursuing my dream to become one of Chicago’s finest products liability defense attorneys. I have not forgotten where I come from. In a world where corporate lawyers sometimes forget to have a soul, I am reminded to be my authentic self, to be kind, and to have empathy. I am motivated to inspire others that they too can rise out of the class they were born into. Symone Danielle Shinton, Esq.
